This is C.T. Strickland, and I am currently adding new products to our e-commerce section of this website, Time with Leather. As the founder of a small independent and privately owned, business, I have developed two divisions of services: Mechanical Clock Repair and Leather Handcrafting. Please review the specialties that I offer as my schedule permits.
Designer Clockworks: Mechanical Clock Repair
As a general rule we do a full overhaul of the movement only. There have been special projects that included refurbishing the clock case, but in most cases we recommend you contact a professional furniture shop as they are better set up for a quick turn around. Also note, though we sell both mechanical and quartz clocks, we do not repair quartz clocks. Here are the tasks involved in a complete overhaul of the MECHANICAL clock movement.
- The movement is given a preliminary inspection
- We contact the customer to advise the work and give an estimate
- If customer approves the movement is completely dismantled, and cleaned with ultrasonic clock cleaner
- All pivots are inspected for damage and if no damage each one is polished on the lathe
- Pivot holes in the movement plates are checked for excessive wear and where needed new bushings are installed
- Each bushing is fitted to the corresponding pivot
- The mechanism is preassembled and tested for alignment and depthing.
- Final assembly and adjustment to assure clock strikes, or chimes and operates in beat
- The movement is adjusted for regulation
- Clock is delivered to the customer with a warranty for the work performed.
